Within the community, the school makes excellent use of the resources in the local area. Children regularly go on educational visits within the village eg trips to the local farm at lambing time and Petersfield area e.g. lessons at the Open Air Swimming Pool. The local vicar contributes to an assembly every month and our Christmas productions and Harvest Festivals are held within St Mary’s Church so that parents and villagers can attend. Our ‘Friends’ organise a variety of fundraising events and social events such as the Summer Fair for families to enjoy.
Buriton Primary School also maintains good links to the local nursery school and with several secondary schools in the area e.g. The Petersfield School. Our Year 6 pupils visit their next school as part of their induction process. Pupils throughout the school are able to share experiences with children at other local schools e.g. by attending events such as a visit by the Maasai Tribe at Bedales School.
Buriton is also linked with the community of Dominase in Ghana and the children share their experiences with ‘pen-pals’as part of this valuable connection. The Buriton Heritage Bank has a wealth of information about the history of the village including the school and children are able to use this as part of the curriculum.
