Community

Within the community, the school makes excellent use of the resources in the local area.  Children regularly go on educational visits within the village e.g., trips to the local farm at lambing time and walks around the beautiful village and South Downs Way.  We also enjoy the best of the Petersfield area such as lessons at the Open Air Swimming Pool. We have strong links with St. Mary's Church - the local vicar contributes to an assembly every month and our Christmas productions and Harvest Festivals are held within church so that parents and villagers can attend and enjoy our wonderful performances.  Our ‘Friends’ organise a variety of fundraising events and social events throughout the year such as the Summer Fair for families to enjoy.

Buriton Primary School also maintains good links with several secondary schools in the area e.g. The Petersfield School and Ditcham Park and our Year 6 pupils always visit their next school as part of their induction process.  Pupils throughout the school are able to share experiences with children at other local schools by attending various local events throughout the year.

Buriton is also linked with the community of Dominase in Ghana and the children share their experiences with ‘pen-pals’ as part of this valuable connection. The Buriton Heritage Bank has a wealth of information about the history of the village including the school and children are able to use this as part of the curriculum.
